Super Visa Insurance for Parents and Grandparents

Like many foreign-born Canadians, you may have parents or grandparents still living in your home country, whom you miss dearly. You would like to introduce them to your spouse or their grandkids, show them the home you have bought, or proudly show off your adopted country.

You may think they can visit with a regular visa, but that’s not a long-term solution. With a normal visa, they can only see the country twice a year before renewing or can only stay for six months on a single entry. That means, if the visa renewal period is sometime around Christmas, they have to run around the visa office rather than spending some family time with you.

Not to worry, though, since the Federal Government has introduced the Super Visa Insurance policy, you won’t have to fret about visa renewals within a short term. That’s because with Super Visa insurance, they can stay for two years on a single entry and the visa itself is valid for ten years.

Consider starting the application process today

Since its introduction, several thousand applicants have already applied for this policy for their parents or grandparents. The procedure also is quite a lengthy one. First of all, your parents or grandparents will have to:

  • Make it clear that will not seek permanent residence in this country
  • They have good ties with their home country
  • They do not have any legal matters which would stop them from entering Canada
  • They will have to pass the immigration medical exam

At the same time, you will also have to

  • Draft a formal letter of invitation
  • Submit proof that you have a stable income
  • Declare that you can financially support your parents or grandparents

Most importantly, your loved ones will have to have medical insurance that has a minimum coverage of $100,000 and validity for a year from a Canadian insurance company. This is a must, and it will also cover any emergency medical expenses for them during their stay here. It’s a win-win for all. If you need help with the application form, consider getting in touch with your local insurance broker. Alternatives to Super Visa Insurance

Choosing Super Visa Insurance is always a suitable option because of the benefits that it comes with. However, it may be overkill if your family members are only coming for a couple of months. If so, then they can apply for a regular visa, which will be more cost-effective.
